Check an online pharmacy before using an offer

How to follow up a GPhC number on Mango Market, identify the dispensing pharmacy and ask about the service behind an online offer.

By Mango Market. A guide to comparing services; a prescriber decides what treatment is suitable.

Follow the registration number beyond the price table

A pharmacy page on Mango Market can show a GPhC number taken from the source list. Treat that as a starting point for your own check. The comparison rank, an offer button and a customer review score do not establish that a particular website is authorised to supply you.

  1. Open the pharmacy's own website and find the name, address and registration number of the pharmacy that will dispense the medicine. The trading brand may differ from the registered pharmacy name.
  2. Search the number on the GPhC pharmacy register for a pharmacy based in Great Britain. Check the name and address against the supplier's details.
  3. Check the website address carefully. A familiar name or copied registration badge does not prove that you are on the pharmacy's real website. Ask the pharmacy to explain any mismatch before entering health or payment information.

For a pharmacy based in Northern Ireland, use the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland register. The MHRA explains which pharmacy register to check.

Find out who assesses and who dispenses

An online service may use a separate prescribing service and dispensing pharmacy. Ask for the identity of both, the prescriber's professional registration details and a contact route for clinical questions. Establish who will arrange any follow-up.

The GPhC's online care guide says to check the registration of services and professionals, provide an accurate medical history and ask what after-care is available. It also advises expecting questions about consent to share information with other professionals involved in your care.

Keep medical details in the pharmacy's secure consultation process. Mango Market compares prices and has no role in assessing your application or passing clinical records between providers.

When an offer needs a closer look

If a seller offers a prescription weight loss medicine without a consultation, do not treat the lack of questions as a faster service. MHRA guidance says a healthcare professional must assess a private GLP-1 prescription before it is issued, and warns against buying from social media sellers and beauty salons.

If the supplier details cannot be matched, contact the regulator through its own website. If the issue is a changed price or a code that does not work, ask the pharmacy about the offer terms and compare another listed option. Those are different problems with different people able to resolve them.

What a successful check still leaves to ask

Registration does not tell you the final basket price, whether your prescription will be approved, the delivery date or how quickly the clinical team responds. Read the service terms and ask about these points before paying.

On Mango Market, the additional-support flag and Trustpilot score can affect the order of pharmacies with the same price. They are not a clinical quality assessment. Our ranking method explains the tie-breaks.
